Why you chose your career and joined your current firm?
I have always been drawn to the way business, economics and the law intersect. Growing up with self-employed parents gave me an early insight into the practical realities of running a business and how risk, legal considerations and commercial decisions can influence outcomes. This interest continued through my studies, where I completed a Bachelor of Business (Finance) and Bachelor of Laws and developed a liking for analytical thinking and problem solving. Insurance law was therefore a natural fit, as it requires an understanding of the legal and commercial realities facing insurers and their insureds. I particularly enjoy navigating the complex factual and legal issues, considering different perspectives and helping clients resolve disputes pragmatically.
I was drawn to Moray & Agnew because of its strong reputation in insurance law, particularly in general liability. I saw the position as an opportunity to apply both my business and legal knowledge in real-world contexts and learn from lawyers with profound industry experience. Since commencing with the firm in February 2025, I have been exposed to a broad range of public liability and professional indemnity matters, through which I have had the privilege of developing my technical skills and commercial acumen, and contributing to practical outcomes for our clients.
How long with the firm?
I have worked at Moray & Agnew for almost 2 years. I commenced with the firm in February 2025 as law graduate working in the liability practice group and was admitted as a lawyer in July 2025.
What do you want to get out of the grant?
The Women in Insurance NSW Grant provides access to rare mentorship, networking and professional development opportunities and will be invaluable to be involved in at such a formative stage of my career. As a junior lawyer in an evolving and technical field, I am excited by the prospect of learning from experienced professionals across the insurance industry, expanding my network and building on my existing knowledge and experience.
In particular, the financial support offered by the Grant will enable me to invest in targeted self development, strengthen my confidence and develop skills that I can carry forward in my work throughout my career. Beyond my own professional development, the Grant and involvement with Women in Insurance is an opportunity to contribute more broadly to the advancement of women in the industry. I am grateful for the opportunity to build on my strengths, establish a professional profile and become a better insurance lawyer, colleague and future mentor.
